The MacinTech Widget If you are reading this, I will assume you have already unzipped the archive called MacinTechWidget.zip. This archive contains a folder having two items: the MacinTech widget in a file called MacinTech.wdgt, and this ReadMe text file. To use the MacinTech, you must have version 10.4 or later of Mac OS X. This ReadMe file is for version 1.1 of the MacinTech widget. The version number can be found on the back side of the widget in the upper corner. To install the widget, double click on "MacinTech.wdgt". A dialog box will ask if you wish to install the widget. Answer yes, and the widget will be installed in Dashboard, and you will have the chance to see the widget and determine whether or not you want to keep the MacinTech widget. Then, any time you want access to the date and topic for the next MacinTech meeting, just click on the Dashboard icon in your Dock. Should the information not appear, try pressing the refresh button in the lower-left corner that appears when mousing over the widget. If the information fails to appear, check your Internet connection. The MacinTech widget also has a back containing access buttons for MacinTech. To access the back of the widget, place your mouse over the widget. A small letter "i" will appear in the lower-right corner. Click on the i, and the widget will flip over. The back has four access buttons. The first button will link you directly to the MacinTech web site, automatically opening your default web browser. The second button will link you directly to the home page of the MacinTech Multimedia SIG web site. The third button will link you to the email subscription page of the MacinTech web site. This page has sign up sections for each of the MacinTech email lists, access to the option pages of each list for subscribed members, and links to archives of the lists. The fourth button links directly to the options page for those already subscribed to the general MacinTech email list. You must provide the email address and password you use for this list. This web page allows you to administer your own email list subscription account. When a newer version of the MacinTech widget is available, a short message will appear along the bottom of the back side. To flip to the front side of the widget, press the Done button.
